This joyful show will please everyone, from the youngest to the oldest. Gee Whizz really

Simon’s Workshop
5.00pm-7.30pm Wednesdays at Victoria Stage
This is a good chance for anyone who wants to learn how to do comedy. The workshop looks
at every kind of comedy, and practices many different ways of making people laugh. Simon
is a comedian and actor who has 10 years’ experience of teaching comedy. His workshops
are exciting and fun. An evening with Simon will give you the confidence to be funny.

Fine food with beautiful jazz music; this is a great evening out. Charlotte Stone will
perform songs from her new best-selling CD, with James Pickering on the piano. The menu
is Italian, with excellent meat and fresh fish, pizzas and pasta(面食). Book early to get
a table. Our bar is open all day, and serves cocktails, coffee, beer, and white wine.

White water rafting has been my favorite hobby for several years. I have drifted down
many challenging North American rivers, yet nothing has matched the thrill I experienced
facing my first rapids on the Deschutes River.
My father and I spent the morning floating down a calm and peaceful part of the Deschutes
in his wooden boat. This trip was the wooden boat’s first time down rapids, as well as
mine. It was such a peaceful summer day that it was hard to believe dangerous rapids awaited
us downstream.
I could hear the water’s deep, loud sounds as we approached Whitehorse Rapids. I was
scared, but even more excited. My father controlled the oars (桨). The carefree expression
he usually wore on the river had been replaced with a look of great concentration as he
moved around large rocks. To steady our nerves, we began to yell like kids on a roller
coaster.
Suddenly, we came to a stop and the left side of the boat’s head hit a large rock.
A whirlpool (漩涡) whirled around us; if the boat turned over, we would be sucked into the
whirlpool. I threw all my weight towards the right side of the boat. Luckily, it was just
enough force to make us leave there, and we continued down the river.
Later that day, we went through Buckskin Mary Rapids, Four Chutes Rapids, Wapinitia
Rapids and Boxcar Rapids. When we pulled up on the bank that evening, we saw that the boat
had received its first scar: a small hole on the front part from the large rock. In the
years to come, we went down many rapids and the boat received many slight injuries, but
Whitehorse is the most memorable rapids of all. Perhaps it is true that your first
experience with white water is your most unforgettable.
